Think Tank Coordinator Job Description

The APDT Think Tank (TT) was devised as a means of getting member input without the cumbersome process of polling the whole membership.  The TT consists of 50 members who serve a 1-year term.  Said terms are staggered so that there is never a complete turnover of TT members.

The APDT Think Tank Coordinator will become a member of the MRC and will help the MRC Chair with the day-to-day running of the Think Tank.  This will include adding and removing members from the TT list (which is a Yahoo Groups list), coordinating calls for volunteers when necessary, and tracking and summarizing responses. The Coordinator Position will complete a term of two years and will committ between 10 and 15 hours per week to the position.

Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Tracking and summarizing responses to each question and keeping data on which members respond and which members don’t respond to each question (to ensure all are participating).  The format of summarization may vary with each question, depending upon the requestor.
  • Managing the membership of the APDT TT List – adding and removing members, following up on bounced emails, etc.
  • Coordinating calls for volunteers every 6 months; this includes assisting the Chair with sending out calls for volunteers (or getting randomly generated lists from the APDT office for random invites), tracking responses, and ensuring that the transitions run smoothly.
  • Keep the website up-to-date by coordinating with the APDT office to ensure the list of Think Tank members is current, that calls for volunteers are posted on the site, and that any other relevant information is posted.

Coordinator Skills & Other Requirements:

  • APDT full member
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good computer skills, especially with data collection (spreadsheets); experience with Yahoo Groups a plus
  • Ability to work with people
  • Self-motivated
  • Highly organized
  • Good communications skills
  • Member of MRC
