Premier Shelter Award

About the Award

The Association of Pet Dog Trainers offers an exceptional education opportunity for an exceptional shelter employee or shelter volunteer!

The APDT is looking for shelter employees/volunteers who have an interest in and commitment to using positive training methods to improve the chances of adoption for the dogs in their care.

Requirements for Entry

Candidates must answer the following questions:

• What is your name, mailing address, e-mail address and phone number?
• What is the name of the shelter where you work/volunteer?
• What position do you hold at the shelter?
• How many years have you held this position?
• If you have held other positions, what were they?
• If you have held other positions, how long did you hold them?
• What involvement do you have in training and/or evaluation of shelter dogs?
• What do you expect to gain from attending the APDT conference?
• How will you share the benefits of attending the conference with your colleagues when you return to the shelter?

A letter of support must accompany each application from the shelter’s Executive Director and/or Board of Directors indicating why the candidate is deserving of this opportunity and how the shelter expects to benefit from their attendance.

Methods for Submitting Your Application

APDT would prefer that all Award applications be submitted in electronic format. You may send your application for the Premier Shelter Award by E-mail: awards@apdt.com

Unable to send your application by email? You may send a hard copy application. However, APDT does strongly suggest that if you choose to mail your application that you use a tracking number to ensure safe and timely delivery. Any application received after the deadline date will not be eligible for the award.

Award

The winning Shelter Worker will receive up to $1,500 to go toward travel, meals and hotel and free admission to the APDT Educational Conference.
