APDT & TFH/Nylabone Search and Rescue Dog of the Year

About the Award

APDT & TFH/ Nylabone offer a well deserved prize for the winning dog's Search and Rescue Unit. This award goes to the search unit for demonstrating use of reward based training and showing exceptional search abilities.

Requirements

Candidates can be any breed or mix and should be trained and certified in one of the following areas:

  • Trailing and/or Tracking
  • Air Scenting
  • Water Work
  • Cadaver
  • Evidence and/or Article Detection
  • Urban Search
  • Disaster

Entry Information

Submit a written synopsis of your entrant's history, triumphs, training techniques, and justification of merit. Entries should be no more than 500 words. Must include the owner's name, address and telephone number.

Award

$1,500 donation from TFH/Nylabone to the winning dog's Search and Rescue Unit.

Cindy and John McArthur, Levi and Nitro

Cindy has been a dog trainer for thirty years and John began his training career eight years ago. Levi and Nitro are both certified in air scent and article detection. Both are trained with positive reinforcement and mounds of praise and love to encourage their dogs during all training exercises. Favorite rewards are a vinyl pink piggy and a jar of baby food. The deadline for entry is June 18, 2007.
