Margaret Rousser, BA, AS

Margaret Rousser graduated from University of California Santa Barbara with degrees in Anthropology and Linguistics and is a graduate of the Moorpark College Exotic Animal Training and Management Program. For the past 10 years she has focused her career in animal behavior management, training and teaching.  She currently supervises the Children’s Zoo at the Oakland Zoo and is responsible for the Zoo’s compliance with the AZA accreditation standards as well as overseeing the enrichment, training and the behavioral husbandry programs for the Zoo. Margaret’s responsibilities extend to teaching zoo interns and volunteers about training using operant conditioning, environmental enrichment and behavioral observation in the zoo setting. Additionally, Margaret supervises and consults on the behavior modification and training projects within the Zoo.
