Allan Bauman, CPDT

Allan Bauman has been actively training dogs for more than 28 years. Bauman is a Charter Member and Past President of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and has lectured both nationally and internationally.  He is the author of Paw-sitive Dog Training, which is also available in video.

Suzanne Clothier

Donna Duford is the Director of Behavior and Training at the San Francisco Department of Animal Care and Control. Donna has lectured worldwide on dog training and behavior, and is internationally known for her creative approaches to training and behavior modification. Ian Dunbar, PhD, MRCVS, CPDT

Veterinarian and animal behaviorist, Dr. Ian Dunbar is currently Director of the Center for Applied Animal Behavior in Berkeley, California. Dr. Dunbar is a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the California Veterinary Medical Association, the Sierra Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, which he founded.

Lauren Fox, CPDT

Lauren has clicker trained and rehabilitated hundreds of animals, including many breeds of dogs, wolves, wolf-crosses, cats, parrots and horses. She is a frequent contributor to print, radio and televised media, including Dog Fancy and Bully Breed magazine and The Sandra Mann Show. She currently writes a monthly article for Steppin’ Out magazine.

Soraya Juarbe-Diaz, DVM, ACVB

Soraya Juarbe-Diaz has the longest established behavior referral practice in the state of Florida. Known as Dr. JD to owners throughout the state, she received a B.S. in biology and a D.V.M. degree from Cornell University. She is a speaker at local, national and international veterinary meetings and behavior conferences and also the author of a variety of papers and articles on behavior written for professional and lay publications.

Doug Knueven, DVM, CAC, CVA, CVCH

A pioneer in holistic pet care in the Pittsburgh region, Dr. Knueven has earned certification in veterinary acupuncture, veterinary Chinese herbal medicine and animal chiropractic. He also has advanced training in veterinary clinical nutrition, massage therapy and homeopathy. Dr. Knueven is a frequent contributor to Clean Run magazine and authored a weekly pet health column in The Beaver County Times and The Allegheny Times.

Karen B. London, Ph.D. received her B.S. in Biology from UCLA and a Doctorate in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin. Dr. London has written widely about training and behavior as well as giving educational seminars and speeches on canine behavior for trainers, veterinary and shelter staff, and the public.

Barbara Long, CPDT

Barbara is a charter member of the APDT, the Carolina Trainers Forum and became the first North Carolina CPDT in 2001. In 2004, Barbara was named the APDT’s Outstanding Trainer of the Year.  Currently, she is serving a second term on the APDT Board of Directors and is Vice-President.  She was the Elections Chair in 2005 and 2006 and is Board co-advisor to the Conference Committee.

Patricia McConnell, PhD, CAAB

Dr. McConnell received her Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she researched dog behavior and communication between professional trainers and working domestic animals. As co-host of Call All Pets, Dr. McConnell gives advice about behavior problems to listeners on over 90 radio stations across the country. She also hosts Pet line, a new national show on Animal Planet, dispensing advice about pets ranging from iguanas to ostriches.
Robert M. Miller, DVM

Robert M. Miller, DVM

Dr. Miller received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1956.  After graduating and settling in Thousand Oaks, California, he founded the Conejo Valley Veterinary Clinic where he worked as an equine veterinarian and became well-known for his animal behavior expertise. Dr. Miller has visited every continent, giving lectures at colleges and conventions for animal groups, horse organizations, and breed associations.

Sue Pearson, MA, CPDT

Sue holds a graduate degree in education and has been teaching pet dog classes for the past twenty years. Sue is also a contributing author for The Source, a regional news magazine, and for the Dog Star Daily website. She was a member of the American Humane Association’s task force charged with the development of humane training standards, and participated on the APDT’s Education Committee during the development of the trainer certification test.

Pia Silvani, CPDT

Silvani is Director of Training and Behavior at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, Madison, New Jersey. Silvani has written six training manuals, used around the country as resource guides for other trainers. She writes behavior articles for the shelter's newsletter and library, has been featured many times in national and international newspapers.

Barbara Smuts, PhD

Barbara holds an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and a Ph.D. in Behavioral Biology from Stanford University. Her publications include Sex and Friendship in Baboons, Primate Societies, and many scientific articles. Dr. Smuts has also written about animals and human-animal relationships for a broader audience in magazines such as Natural History, American Scientist, Discover Magazine, and Bark.

Jennifer Sobie, PhD, CPDT, DVM

Dr. Jennifer Sobie received her Ph.D. in behavior analysis from Western Michigan University.  Jennifer is a founding member of the Special Interest Group (SIG) on Animal Training for the Association for Behavior Analysis, and currently serves as Chair of the SIG. Dr. Sobie is a frequent contributor to breed and dog publications.

Stilwell is certified by the Animal Behavior and Training Associates and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Janet Velenovsky, CPDT, CDBC-TAC

Velenovsky is a graduate of Purdue University's 2004 DOGS Course and holds a Counseling Certificate from the San Francisco SPCA's Academy for Dog Trainers. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT) and a Professional Member of APDT. Janet serves on the Board of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and Therapy Animal Consultant (TAC) through IAABC.
Clarissa von Reinhardt

Clarissa von Reinhardt

Clarissa von Reinhardt owns and operates a large, modern training and behavior complex in the Bavarian Alps of Germany. She is probably one of the foremost reward-based instructor/trainers in Europe. Von Reinhardt founded an education center for dog a trainer that is highly regarded in Germany. Her school, AnimalLearn, is the host of an annual symposium for dog trainers.

Camille Ward, MS, PhD

Dr. Ward has lectured nationally on cognition and social behavior, has taught animal behavior at the University of Michigan, and has published on animal behavior in a variety of scientific journals. Her current research focuses on dog-to-dog social interactions and how dogs negotiate their social relationships with one another.
Judy Warth

Judy Warth

Judy holds a degree Business Administration and has spent more than two decades training people with disabilities using non-aversive, positive training technologies. She has been active in designing and piloting classes for shelter dogs and volunteers for the local shelter as well teaching classes for dogs and owners with special needs.

Sarah Whitehead, BA (Hons), MSc

Sarah Whitehead is an international lecturer and pet behavior counselor. Sarah is the author of twenty behavioral and training books, booklets and videos including the Complete Guide to the Puppy and The Dog Training Pack. She is currently working on a DVD and book titled Talk Dog which focuses on canine body language and facial expression.
