Attorney from Virginia Joins APDT Board of Trustees

Heidi Meinzer, JD, CPDT-KSA, CNWI, was recently appointed to serve a one-year term on the APDT board of trustees.

Heidi is an attorney focusing on animal law and the pet care industry.  She serves on the boards of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Heidi has her CPDT-KSA and CNWI certifications and teaches general manners and K9 Nose Work™ with Fur-Get Me Not and Canine Copilots in Northern Virginia. She shares the company of a beautiful German Shepherd mix, Sophie, who has made great strides with reactivity and confidence issues. Heidi lives in Alexandria, Va., with Sophie, her boyfriend Bill, and Bill’s adorable black lab, Boomer, who earned his NW3 title in 2015.

The Association of Professional Dog Trainers, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1993 to be an inclusive forum for trainers to network with each other, provide educational opportunities, and grow the profession. Currently, the APDT reaches more than 5,200 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, business management, research, and continuing education in the professional dog training profession and pet industry.
